Philosophy :
My philosophy as a nurse serves as a central guiding principle that informs other aspects of my medical career. First and foremost is compassion. I am committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to all who seek it. The care will be individualized for each person across the diverse cultures to which I serve. My focus as I transition into the provider role as a Family Nurse Practitioner is to deliver compassionate care centered around holistic medicine that prioritizes prevention and education, with the assurance of providing top-notch care to all individuals across a lifespan.
Quality,
While working as a travel nurse, I encouraged and contributed to plans to ensure adherence to evidence-based protocols and safety standards. The pandemic caused many things to fall below standards. I implemented measures to prevent infection, not only to prevent the spread among other patients but also among staff members, when supplies and capabilities were not up to standard. I plan to track and promote health literacy among my peers to ensure a positive trajectory towards improvement.
Policy….
There are many variations as it comes to policy and procedures. As a travel nurse, I had to be able to adapt quickly, as not only do state policies differ, but facility policies may also vary within the same state. As an Advanced Healthcare provider, I intend to attain membership within the Nurse Practitioner organizations to support my educational development and continued improvement of policies and procedures throughout my career.
Ethics.
The cornerstone of any healthcare career is ethics. All individuals deserve compassion, respect, and dignity when it comes to their autonomy over healthcare choices. I have consistently upheld confidentiality in all situations, providing compassionate care in emotionally challenging situations. Outside of my work as a nurse, I am also a life recovery counselor and focus my volunteer work around drug addicts and rehabilitated convicts who are looking for a fresh start.
